Terms of engagement
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, members of Gough Square Chambers contract on the basis of the Standard Contractual Terms for the Supply of Legal Services by Barristers to Authorised Persons 2012 published by the Bar Council (updated for the GDPR in 2018), a copy of which can be found here: Standard Contractual Terms.
If you would like work to be carried out on any other basis, please contact the clerks prior to that work being commenced and they will be happy to discuss this with you.
Professional, licensed access and/or lay clients may contact the clerks to obtain a quotation for legal services. Quotations will be provided if sufficient information has been provided by the client and one or more barrister in chambers would be willing to provide the legal services requested. Our most commonly used pricing model for legal services is fixed fee.
The areas of law in which we most commonly provide legal services are regulated lending and consumer regulatory law. The legal services we most commonly provide are advisory work, drafting and advocacy before courts and tribunals. The timescales of provision of such work will depend on the legal and factual complexity of the instruction, the volume of documents to review, prior commitments of the barrister who has been instructed and any court deadlines.
