Employment and discrimination

Including advising and representing in employment and discrimination law. We represent parties in employment tribunals, the Employment Appeal Tribunal and have experience of applying for injunctions in the High Court.

Members have recently appeared in cases involving issues of sex/disability discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

Notable cases include:

  • Ballantine v Distell Europe Ltd and others, Reading Employment Tribunal, June 2013: 6 day case; successful defence to claims of sex discrimination, harassment, victimisation and constructive unfair dismissal by a marketing manager against her employer and five male colleagues;
  • Eversheds Legal Services Limited v De Belin [2011] I.C.R. 1137; [2011] I.R.L.R. 448: EAT held it is unlawful to favour employees who were pregnant/on maternity leave beyond what was reasonably necessary to compensate them for the disadvantages occasioned by their condition.
