This year, Gough Square Chambers celebrates 40 years since its foundation.
In 1986, Fred Philpott founded a small set of chambers in 9 Devereux Court – moving to new premises in Gough Square in 1993. Since then, Chambers has grown to become a leading name for consumer finance, financial services, and consumer regulatory work. Today we are 28 barristers, and this month welcomed a new pupil and a new tenant.
Chambers remains the sole Band 1 set for Consumer Law in Chambers & Partners UK Bar, and is also recognised in the Legal 500 for Banking & Finance (including Consumer Credit), Financial Services & Fintech Regulation, and Business Crime: Large Corporates.
