The 2026 Mini-Pupillage Day will be held in Chambers on 25 November 2026.
Each year, Chambers offers up to 16 people the opportunity to spend a day in Chambers with its members. The Mini-Pupillage Day features presentations and interactive workshops with other mini-pupils and Members of Chambers. Refreshments and lunch will be provided, which give mini-pupils further opportunities to engage with Members and to learn about practising at Gough Square Chambers.
Eligibility
The Mini-Pupillage Day is aimed at prospective applicants for pupillage, though it is not a pre-requisite and those who have not attended a day should not be dissuaded from applying to Chambers for pupillage.
Applicants for the Mini-Pupillage Day must have either studied law at undergraduate level for at least 6 months or have commenced a law conversion course. All applications will be considered in accordance with our Equality and Diversity Policy.
Applications
Applications should be made using the form below, which requires applicants to submit a CV and covering letter along with their name and e-mail address so that Chambers can inform them whether their application has been successful. Candidates must apply by no later than midnight on 23 October 2026.
Applications will be considered in accordance with Chambers’ Equality and Diversity Policy and assessed against the following criteria, which we use when assessing pupillage candidates:
- Intellectual ability
- Advocacy ability
- Analytical ability
- Interpersonal skills and temperament
- Initiative
- Ability to build a successful practice in Chambers
Whilst applications are expected to demonstrate these competencies, there is no one way to do so. Equally, we do not discriminate between those who have studied law at undergraduate level and those who have begun their law conversion.
Candidates will be informed on 28 October 2026 whether their application has been successful, unsuccessful, or whether they have been placed on a waiting list in the event a space becomes available.
Bridging the Bar
Chambers is also pleased to offer two-day mini-pupillages through the Bridging the Bar scheme. Applications should be made to Bridging the Bar and not to Chambers.
Candidates who have participated in a Mini-Pupillage Day or have undertaken a mini-pupillage through Bridging the Bar may not undertake any further mini-pupillage experience in Chambers. This ensures as many prospective barristers as possible can experience life at Gough Square Chambers.
