The CMA has today announced its investigation into the practices of an online dating company. The CMA’s main concerns relate to (a) how online dating services are advertised and described to consumers; (b) privacy and use of consumers’ data; and (c) subscription, cancellation and variation of contract terms.

The company, which has not been named, is being investigated under the Enterprise Act 2002 in respect of suspected breaches of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

An update is expected early next year.
