In August 2016, the FCA published a consultation paper (CP16/20) on setting a deadline for consumers to make any further Payment Protection Insurance (“PPI”) complaints and proposed rules and guidance for dealing with such complaints in light of the Supreme Court decision in Plevin v Paragon Personal Finance Limited [2014] 1 W.L.R. 4222.

The consultation paper set out a timetable, which provided for the FCA to reach a decision by December 2016. This date has now been reached and the FCA has issued the following statement: “We have received a large amount of feedback and, given the importance of this matter, we are carefully considering the issues raised and will make a further announcement in Q1 2017”.
