Government outlines proposed reforms to bolster consumer protection

The government has published proposals to increase enforcement powers – including fines of up to 10% of global turnover for breaches of consumer law – and target specific sectors and unscrupulous practices.
These proposals are unsurprising, given the forthcoming consumer redress mechanism across the EU, but it will be interesting to see how many of the proposals are ultimately implemented.
