Who we are and the role
We are a leading Barristers’ Chambers in London, renowned for its expertise in Consumer law, financial services, and regulatory law in both the civil and criminal jurisdictions. We are seeking to recruit the role of Junior Clerk as part of the staff and administrative support team. This important role will suit someone seeking their first position in a challenging, busy, professional environment, wanting the chance to work closely with other clerks and support staff, as well as members of Chambers.
This is an ‘in-person’ role with 8.5 hours per working day (inclusive of lunch breaks and breaks) within Chambers’ opening hours of 8.30 am and 6.15 pm.
Pay is competitive and Chambers will invest in the continued education of the candidate, as appropriate and relevant to the role, including through the Institute of Barristers Clerks.

The ideal candidate
Suitable candidates will ideally be educated to A level standard or above. They must show initiative and willingness to work in a pressured environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with attention to detail, and organised approach to the working environment. Any previous experience of clerical or administrative work involving customers or clients is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
Assisting the clerks, admin. and members with the day-to-day running of Chambers. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Answering telephones and dealing with clients.
- Updating barrister diaries, entering time recording and case data within the LEX system.
- Attending listing appointments (with training) in divisions of the High Court.
- Liaising with listing officers (with training) to fix matters in the Crown Court.
- Lodging documents at Court.
- Liaising with solicitors regarding the return of papers.
- Locating authorities online and within libraries and assisting with preparation of bundles.
- Photocopying and printing documents.
- Efficient management and distribution of incoming emails.
- Assisting with and attending chambers marketing events.
- Post and managing DX.
- General administrative duties
