Alison Lambert led Sabrina Goodchild in a 9-week trial for Kent County Council Trading Standards.
On the 20th May 2026, HHJ David Richards, sitting in the Crown Court at Inner London sentenced two defendants to a total of 15 years 9 months custody. The principal defendant was sentenced to 10 years for three counts of Fraudulent Trading and three counts of Money Laundering. The second defendant was sentenced to 5 years 9 months for one count of Fraudulent Trading and one count of Money Laundering.
The case concerned two rogue builders, operating through three companies, who had taken over £1.3m from the owners of 12 properties in the Kent area. They had provided fixed price quotations which they then inflated with additional work and left some victims with little more than a shell. Money was taken for specific items, such as windows, which were never provided and no refunds were made.
Confiscation proceedings are progressing.
