Ann-Marie has a broad commercial practice spanning financial services, consumer law and regulatory matters in both civil and criminal contexts. She is regularly instructed by major lenders, banks and other financial institutions in complex and high-value disputes, as well as providing strategic advisory input on regulatory and compliance issues. Her work covers the full spectrum of consumer finance litigation, with particular expertise in claims arising under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, including unfair relationships and undisclosed commission claims, as well as matters involving breach of fiduciary duty and allegations of bribery.
She has substantial experience advising on the regulatory framework governing financial services, including the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the Regulated Activities Order and the FCA Handbook, and is frequently instructed in matters engaging the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and wider consumer protection legislation. Ann-Marie also advises on large-scale and systemic issues affecting the consumer finance market, such as the FCA’s most recent s.404 redress scheme. She is known for combining technical expertise with a commercial and pragmatic approach, and for handling matters from early advisory stages through to trial.
She is an editor of the Encyclopaedia of Financial Services Law (Sweet & Maxwell) and is an editor of the “Pink Book” (Consumer and Trading Standards: Law and Practice published by Lexis Nexis).
Before coming to the Bar, Ann-Marie had an extensive career as a project manager in the construction and infrastructure industry. She worked both domestically and internationally with clients including the Ministry of Defence and the UK Home Office.
