We are pleased to report that Harry Hatwell, our current pupil, has been awarded Advocate’s Pupil Pledge. The Pupil Pledge exists to recognise pupil barristers’ commitment to pro bono work from the earliest stages of their practice. Harry received the Pupil Pledge badge in just the second week of his practising second six months of pupillage for his work advising and representing a client pro bono at a day-long hearing in the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).

The hearing concerned an application for a bad husbandry certificate. Given the complexity of the law, facts, and submissions, judgment has been reserved.

Harry continues to take pro bono instructions. He recently successfully settled a long-running company insolvency dispute for less than a third of the amount sought by liquidators and has pro bono insolvency, bankruptcy, and employment hearings in the diary.
